| Just want to share my experiences and bloopers when I first started to learn playing the violin :D. I actually bought a (bachandorff) violin about a week before I enrolled in classes kasi bigla nawala yun nainquire ko na sched hehe. For that one week hindi ko hinawakan yun violin ko kasi I don't want to develop a bad habit. First thing I upgraded or added was 3 more fine tuner, ako na nagkabit nito kasi hirap dalhin yun violin kung saan saan at no stock yun place ng lessons ko. First thing I did I loosened the pegs so I can remove the bridge so I can install the fine tuners sa tailpiece. So far no problem, but when I put the bridge back and retune the violin ayan na blooper ko hehe. I did not notice the bridge was already leaning while I was tuning it so eventually *BLARGH!!* ... bagsak ang bridge ko with a big crash. I was like NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was still there and seem to be still in the proper place .. but it left a dent on my violin .. no cracks but there is a visible dent. There was also another thing I did not notice until I was wiping my violin after my practice session.. the fine tuners scratched a bit of the violin when I was intalling it Kawawa violin ko, but I guess at least I learned something, so evertime I change strings, I place something soft in between my tailpiece and the violin so It won't scratch. Hmm.. anu pa.. ah , I also tried to customize my own bridge with sand paper and crafting knife. I kept the original bridge and right now I have the one I customized installed, but I might try to remake another one, it may be a bit too low. I'll keep another blank as well in case I go to a luthier hehe. I just wanted something personalized on my violin kaya ako nagtyatyaga icustomize yun bridge although a luthier can do it a lot better. I might bring it to a luthier someday for checkup (my violin is somewhat hissing, more noticable on certain bows) and setup (maybe some fittings upgrade).

Pahiya ako kasi I didn't know about the application of rosin. Reklamo pa ako nun. "Baket walang tunog?!" >< |
