Question: Totoo bang nakaka-apekto ang material ng fittings in terms of sound?

Ang dami kong nababasa na malaki daw ang factor ng weight at density ng fittings sa projection ng instrument. (lalo na ang tailpiece)

The lighter the fittings = brighter sound, livelier tone
The heavier the fittings = darker sound, more solid tone

3 most common materials in fittings compared:

1. Ebony - hardest, densest wood
2. Rosewood - somewhere in the middle of Ebony and Boxwood
3. Boxwood - softest, least dense wood

Tentative Conclusion:

Ebony Fittings- Louder, more focused sound, dark and solid tone
Rosewood Fittings- Balanced
Boxwood Fittings- Softer, lighter sound, bright and lively tone

**Of course there is still this notion that fittings are for aesthetics only.

Hay ewan. Fittings and how it may or may not affect sound 868891 Hindi ako makapag decide kung anong fittings ang dapat kong bilhin. I currently have ebony fittings on my violin, it sounds okay. But I feel that it still has lots of room for improvement. Fittings and how it may or may not affect sound 249180

Kapag beginner violin lang paglalagyan mo, hindi gano halata ang sound difference.. Compared to the keen hearing of Professional players, slight tone difference for beginner's point of view can be a big deal for them..

Noticeable lang ang difference kapag ang dating tailpiece mo ay bakal (with built in fine tuners) then change to wooden one..

So I THINK,
It shouldn't be of much concern for now.. Sa beginners kasi, mas maganda pa ring basehan ang "aesthetics" (kahit paano) sa pagpili ng fittings.. If you would consider other factors, Temperature, humidity and even the player's mood can greatly affect his/her tone production..
