| Hi,
Im just a new member and a newbie when it comes to violin. I'm currently learning to play the violin in UPD through their extension program. Im looking for a silent violin or an electric violin that I could use for practice. Its hard to practice at home with an acoustic violin eh.. its making a lot of sound. Im looking for something that I could use everyday for practice without disturbing other people.
I prefer second hand (pre-loved). Brand new is also Ok as long as the price is interesting (within my range).
Thank you,
jimninus |

Kaya nya i-mute yung sound up to 60-65% ng normal volume.. hehehe

| kuya jeje galing ako dun less than a month ago, didnt see one... i was able to buy an FOM Mute (i dont think practice mute pa yun bakal e xD) for around 670 i think sa lyric(little mozart) though.. grabe yung mute na yun, i dont think the sound can even be heard outside my door anymore xD
as for TS:since you did say you just started playing/studying id suggest you go for a mute na muna instead of investing on another instrument para you can use the leftover money for lessons, food and other stuff that you might want for yourself... just a thought though, beginner pa lang din ako e xD |

| learned about the practice mute from this thread, bumili rin ako kanina.

| mag mute ka nalang. when i bought my yamaha silent violin years ago, kala ko ideal sya for practice. pero i find myself liking the sound of an acoustic na may mute. yung silent kasi kahit anong articulation gawin mo, tunog bakal. and never akong nakagawa ng harmonics doon, both artificial and natural. maganda lang when you plug it in you ipod.
besides you cannot use naman an electric violin for classical performances. so i guess when you practice for classical pieces, better use an acoustic one.
yung electric lang is mas gusto ko pag using pedals and all, plus freestyle/pop music. pero practice wise, acoustic would do you a lot better.
try this, get a hanky, fold it a few times length wise and wrap it around the bridge, just make sure it doesnt touch the strings. thats what i do when i practice, instead of those heavy clip on mutes, i like the sound better. :) |

| I just got both the rubber mute and the metal mute yesterday. They decrease the sound considerably naman, mga 60%-70% but I tried yung hanky trick and tied it around the bridge but this time with a rubber mute on the bridge and it works just fine. |

Pero as much as possible daw try to play at normal volume..
