May entry level na Hofner ako dito sa bahay, luma na nga lang kaya siguro ang pangit at ang bigat. nakita ko ung Hofner ni Mervin "A.K.A. Fox" 4k lang yata niya nakuha. maganda na ngayon ang mga hofner china kumpara noon. Pero, piliin mo pa rin, baka maka dampot ka ng factory reject ^^;

If you know someone who has been playing the violin for a while, bring him with you to check out the beginner Hoffner's. Listen to the sound, have him check the neck. (@Kanji: NECK RESET! AUGH!) You might want to do some reading regarding what constitutes basically correct violin structure. Or you can reach out to Juriusu (Julius Lim) since he's like, the "luthier-esque" wannabe. (@Juriusu-san: Oy, I mean that in the best way possible.)

Really shop around and check out all variants before buying. And when buying, try to get the best of what you can afford at the level you are buying from. (^^,)v

Hello guys! Got here through PinoyExchange. :)

I've been thinking about taking violin lessons for many years now but I never took it seriously. It was always just a dream. But this year, for me, is about making things happen. So, here I am, making things happen! I'm now researching about violins for newbies (absolutely new at this) and also violin lessons.

I have a question though - are there cello discussions here also? I'm just about to browse the forum, hopefully, I'll encounter one.

Hello, good afternoon!

I'm PJ, and this is my very first post. ^_^

I got here through Google (ang galing ng Google-fu ko e, hehe). I wanted to pick up the instrument kaya I decided to register.

As a little background, I'm 27 years old. Ilang millenia ago, nag-aral ako ng violin sa Harrison Plaza, I can't remember the name. Pero kahit ganon, 0 ako sa violin kasi sobrang tagal na non.

Anyway, I recently tried getting more out of life, and so I tried different things. Nadiscover ko na I'm good at cooking, painting and learning foreign languages. Self-expansion ang trip, haha. But at the back of my mind, naalala ko yung dream ko when I was very young. And that is to be a good violin player. And so I decided it was time to revisit my dream.

Wala na yung old violin ko (washed away by a flood), so I need to buy a new one. Pero I decided na this is one challenge I need to face.

Sobrang happy naman ako kasi may resource like PV. Hope to learn a lot from you people! ^_^
