Siguro. Depending dun sa strings na nakakasa. Posibleng matagal nang tengga yung product. Pero it's higly unlikely. Kaya it is highly recommended na pag bumili ka dapat may kasama kang may alam.

But you know what? All the times na bumili ako ng violin wala akong naging kasama. One who knows their way around stringed instruments, at least. What I'm trying to say is, kung brand spanking new naman yan I don't think "ngongo" ang tunog. But other than that, I don't think may matitisod kang "ngongo" na bago.

Thanks Halimaw_Sa_Banga for the detailed explanation. :D

I'll consider myself lucky if the store will atleast allow me to test the instrument first.

I have two stores in mind lang naman, JB and Lyric.

I do not know what to say about the Cremona violin since I have never tried it (available daw to sa JB).

I'm really aiming for a hofner or a bachendorff.

How can I check the pegs?

@paige

the best is to bring with you an Experienced Violinist (a friend or teacher) to play the violin for you and give their comments... be it a student violin, or advanced violin...

Dapat madaling ipihit yung pegs although may quick solution jan ~

for stubbornly sticky pegs, use Pencil Graphite as Lubricant...

for loose pegs (although i don't do this) most, even Mang Anghel, uses Chalk.... NOT too much... at opposite naman ang mangyayari, titigas naman at mahirap ipihit ang pegs... gudlak sa pag tune kapag ganun... :)))

Happy Violin Hunting !!! :)

@baroqueviolin

Ok. Well in general, student violins that are brand new need to be checked and ''tweaked'' by a Luthier. Luthiers can remedy super tight or supra loose pegs, uncomfortable high bridge, uneven fingerboards especially sa treble side ng finger board.

So ayun.... once you get all these "brand new sickness" fixed, ok na sya until you upgrade !!! ^_^

Thanks for the additional info :D

Siguro naman during the early stages hindi pa naman ganon tlaga ang need para magpacheck sa luthier. Gusto ko muna problemahin yung instructor kung san ako maghahagilap Q: What do you mean by "ngo ngo na violin" 74395

How much ba ang budget mo for the violin?

However, for basic skill building, I don't think you need it yet. And so on.

As for the ngongo part, you can easily remedy it by buying a new set of strings. :) So far puro mga Chinese strings (I recommend DADI, 100 petot per set) ang ginagamit ko for my Hofner. According to a member here, "madrama" ang sound ng violin ko. I took that as a compliment. LOL!

I met him at an EB last month. Kung mako contact ko siya maybe he can help you out.

Thanks for the details Halimaw_Sa_Banga.

Regarding my budget, its 4k-6k

As of now, I'm really being careful before buying. I'm trying to squeeze as much info as possible that can help me kapag mag hunt na ako ng violin. Kasi as I said ayaw ko sana ng papalit palit kasi I'm not satisfied or namali ako ng bili. Ayaw ko kasi mabenta ng gamit as much as possible dahil masyado akong sentimental Q: What do you mean by "ngo ngo na violin" 693300

And about you using pliers to turn the pegs, sana wag na ko umabot sa ganong scenario sa mabibili kong violin Q: What do you mean by "ngo ngo na violin" 448949

And to comment about the PV member from Pampanga, I hope he can help a noob out Q: What do you mean by "ngo ngo na violin" 7079

tangalin mo isa isa ung pegs... then apply Pencil Graphite to one side of the peg lang... it works all the time... :-)

@baroque Noted.

@paigenotfound I'll let you know kung magparamdam na siya. :) But 4-6k can buy you a good instrument. Yung Bachendorff mid-level violin na sinasabi ni banned by admin medyo top of the line na yun for a beginner violin. It's around 5k. You'll know it when you see it, kasi hindi siya makintab kagaya ng mga usual na finish ng mga violin, at brown ang fittings (pegs and chinrest), a departure from the usual black. Basta when you go to lyric, ang hanapin mo yung mid-level violin nila na tig-5k.

Ouch! kumakain p man din ako habang binabasko ang Thread na to!
ahaha!

sinasabi nilang pwede daw Wrong Bowing..
Pangit o Luma na ang strings
may diperencia ang Bridge
and so on..

Regading sa Masikip o maluwag na Pegs

Pencil lead= pampadulas
Chalk=pampasikip
Baby Powder= Pampadulas

I use yung mechanical pencil lead. First, remove the peg and then insert the lead sa may peg hole then after that, I insert back yung peg and then rotate the peg to distribute evenly yung crushed lead.

Do it also sa other side of the peg hole.

@Halimaw_Sa_Banga
Sige I'll try to look for that model based on your description and price tag.

Nice idea yung mech pencil lead atleast mas madali madistribute yung lead around the pegs and the peg holes.

I can relate pre.
So I don't advise using pliers. Haha!

I also use pencil lead para medyo madulas and madali ipihit ung mga pegs. Kaso madaling bumaba if nasobrahan.

Kaya practice, practice and practice. :D

@paigenotfound Kung sobrang walang experience, you can expect na "ungodly" ang tunog na magagawa mo. Mainly from erratic bowing yan. Pero do not let that discourage you. With the help of a teacher maaayos din yan.

also napansin ko rin may difference rin yun naririnig ng player and yun audience. i tried to record my playing kasi and napansin ko iba hehe. so might be good to listen from an audience point of view rin.

Tips: habang walang instructor:

Kahit mga professionals, may isang reference key na itatago sa violin for tuning (usually A=440hz tuning fork or pitch pipe)

@ paigenotfound: tenga talaga ang maaasahan mo. :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XIFu9NxCRU

Para maiwasan mo mag warp o mabalian ng bridge, pag nag tu tune :D

I have Musical for Android na merong pitch pipe at nagprapractice ako to read notes using Music Sheet Workout on Android din. Very useful na din for me.

@T@l Blaiser

EDIT: dinikit ko nga ung bridge sa violin dati gamit ng superglue he he he.... wag gagawin iyun!

@T@l Blaiser

After finally tweaking the bridge and nut and string height that fits my preference, wala na akong inaalala.. Before playing, tune lang and after playing, wipe off lang ng Rosin traces sa strings at top plate.

Depends on your preference...

You should attend EyeBalls sa manila minsan para mameet mo mga PV pipols and try their violins.. You can try them all you want para makapag compare ka..

:D basta regular cleaning, good storage[good case], good temperature, hinde nabubuhusan ng tubig or anything na alcohol. and check up twice a year. good ka sa violin mo.

@T@l Blaiser

@T@l Blaiser
So you're saying na almost the same lang yung mga entry level basta nasa below 10k price range? Mukha magbabago na naman isip ko :D

So its better to buy yung lower priced muna then upgrade na lang pag mas ok na yung skills ko?

Hmmmmmmm......

@T@l Blaiser

Goal ko muna is to bring out the best in my entry level.

I'll try to check yung mga brand na sinabi mo. Magcacanvass muna ko then decide kung ano ba talaga.

What about strings?

I'll try muna yung Alice strings.
Feeling ko kasi makakarami ako lalo na pag magpractice magtune Q: What do you mean by "ngo ngo na violin" 74395
