Hello po!

After my appointment with my doctor today I went sa isang small music store and found a Bachendorff Violin brand violin with spirit varnish. I must tell you I fell in love with it kasi napaka delicate yung finish. Yung price is mura lang around 7500 php. But I think hindi sya full size (but yung saleswoman insisted na full size sya).

What's your experience with spirt varnished violins? Does the finish last a long time? I have a very corrosive sweat not to mention sweaty fingers so oil-based varnish ako muna.

Unang una, nagustohan mo ba ung tunog?

ung aking violin, ewan ko kung Spirit ung varnish, pero nag react ito sa hand sanitizer, naging sticky ung varnish ng napatakan ung isang small area habang pinupunasan ko ung chinrest, kaya ngayon binabaklas ko na ung mga accessories pag nililinisan ^^; Ginagamitan ko ng bimpo/towelette sa may chinrest pag ako ay pinapawisan ng husto, lalo na tuwing lesson ko... ang init kasi sa loob ng studio.

Ayaw mo noon? agad mag mumukhang antique ung violin mo sa natural na paraan, at puwede mo naman pa ayos sa luthier pag naging masydong manipis na ung varnish. :D

Anong model iyan ng Bachendorff?

Hindi ko na test yung violin yet...kasi they will only set it up kung bibilhin mu (usual Filipino sales dilemma). Di ko sure kung anung model ng bachendorf.

Hay napaka corrosive ng sweat ko...ewan ko. Toxic sya sa mga wood.

Pareho tayo he he he, kaya nag ha hand sanitizer ako sa kamay bago mag play ng violin, nababawasan ang langis at pawis[to my conditions] + nakalabas ung panyo ko sa pantalon para sa "Quick wiping". pero mas corrosive siguro ung sa instructor ko, pumuputi ung aking chinrest pag ginamit niya he he he. dahil siguro sa ating climate ito at diet?

Ganun!? kailangan munang bilhin bago e set-up, magandang iwasan na nga lang, hinde sila confident sa produkto nila[malay natin baka mga reject mga ito ^^;]

@Talblaiser: I think they are careful na madamage yung violin kapag you tested it. kasi hindi naka set up yung violin. Knowledge deficit talaga yung ilang music stores.

I think it's sa weather natin because it's humid and hot. Na papawis tayo easily. but these days I really enjoy the weather kasi malamig! Brrrr...

Ha ha ha ha! hinde na ako makikigamit ng violin ng iba!

Pero halos tubig lang ang meroon sa spit/saliva, kaya ako deretso tubig, unless nga na gusto natin bigyan ng extra minerals ang violin natin he he he.

hahahahaha.... i dare not use spit on the wood. Pero sa strings, to clean the rosin buildup which could dampen the sound, i might use my my own spit... pero syempre dab lang sa finger then rub the rosin off the string. But i haven't tried it yet. I usually use a used Cellphone card pero very very gently. I fear i might damage the metal winding of the strings. o_O

iyan ang bago sa akin! talagang susubukan ko, kesa mag alcohol ako sa pag linis ng string, bakit nga ba ung "spit" na lang, hinde pa delikado sa violin.

Just be gentle when u use a celfon card. Tsaka ang advice na nabasa ko sa Strings Magazine use a card to clean the strings after you have reapplied rosin to your bow... un kasi ang time na marami pang rosin sa bow.... kaya marami rin kakapit sa strings... ^_^
