| Hello PV! Thank you. |

| @Tal
I saw them Luthiers give a wee bit of a tap on the sound post and the sound changed significantly. My eyes and ears witnessed it first hand in Mang Tulio's shop last summer when Makalaarni's soundpost collapsed.
I asked him "could you make it sound more Dark since it is a Guarnerius copy ?" And whith a couple of taps with the sound post setter, it is achieved !!!!
Naamaze lang ako sa mastery ng mga Luthier ... they know their instruments !!! ^_^ |

| Wow! I know mang Tulio and he knows me very well. He lives close to my house. Hehe! I even tried most of his stradivarius and guarneri copies. Lucky me. =)
It's true, he often taps it with a post setter and explained to me before that a even single tap to the soundpost could change the sound. I learned that if you would move the post closer to the bridge, the sound will be more brilliant, and if you move it far from the bridge (close to the base bar inside the violin), the sound would be darker and deeper, however, there's a posibility that sound volume could decrease.
Things I use to set my post: I cut a piece of metal from a hanger then I use a metal file to sharpen the edge of it. I also have a blunt scissor to hold the sound post in place inside the f hole while the metal hanger is inserted in the other side. I also use the scissor to tap the post since it is heavier.
Again: Just an experiment and I learned from experience and observation from other luthiers. Hehe! |

| I treat soundpost reseting as a critical procedure. Wrong placement of the post could cause soundpost cracks in the instrument. One time I changed my violin's tailpiece and the soundpost fell down. Talagang nagfreak out ako dahil yung violin ko ay handcrafted...hayun I had no choice but to take a paper clip and use it as a soundpost setter. Success.
Tip: wait for at least a day for the soundpost to set after installing it. |

So far ok yung tunog, rather sweet-toned...but I have the tendency to crush it sometimes since I an sort of aggressive player. |

| @ Tal: - Told yah! Hehe! Pero baka mgcollapse yung post mo ah kasi bka mxdo na syang lose eh. Aun... Longer post? Tried that already. Hindi advisable. My tamang size and soundpost depende sa violin. Hehe! And TIGAS ng kahoy eh! Hindi nging maayos yung tunog nya, pigil, mahina at my garalgal sa A string kpag nsa 'Do at Re' note yung finger ko, first position. Hehe! ^^ |

One factor, I think is the strings. Magaralgal yung notes sa A string ko recently then I changed the strings. Aun... tanggal ang garalgal. Hehe! 1 and a half years na kasi yung string na tinanggal ko. Hehe!
Kapag alang post, mahina, kulob at maliit yung tunog nya. Aun... Hehe!
Try to get a new sound post po @clowreed. Mang Tulio, a luthier from Las Pinas told me: Leaving the violin without a soundpost for a long time may change the form of the wood as the strings push the bridge lower sa part kung saan dapat nka suporta yung soundpost. Cheers, Bro! =) |

Almost a year narin kasi ako tumigil sa pag e experiment ng violin eh tapos nawala yung iba kong mga tools and spare parts. Mga 9 years old yung pinaka matanda. Marunong ka bang magkabit ng sound post? Anyway, may soundposts pa ata ako na spare. Hanapin ko lang muna sila. Hehe! Pag nahanap ko, bigyan kita if my chance na mka EB ko kayo. Yung iba kasi dun tulad ng sayo eh, yung tagusan. Hehe! |

Ung correct position ng bridge o sound post? Sa bridge: align the feet of the bridge between the two small nicks on the inside of the two "F" holes. Yung iba kasing violin kahit i adjust mo e maliit parin yung tunog. Ayun... Hehe! Hope these suggestions help you. =) |
